Calibrations on chart recorders

We do some calibrations on chart recorders for a supply chain group every six months. We use a Fluke 712 RTD calibrator with a verified RTD plugged into it. The calibration device used needed to be able to handle sitting in a walk in freezer at -40° C for about an hour at a time.

When we first started using the 712 for this client’s charts the plan was to De-terminate the sensors, connect the 712 to the respective channel on the chart recorder and inject a signal as well as check the signal coming from the installed sensor. But the supply chain group’s policy is to set the calibration standard sensor next to the installed sensor and adjust accordingly. We have been doing this for 6 years now and have had no problems whatsoever with the 712.
