Meeting the requirements of AMS2750 for heat treat

Meeting the requirements of AMS2750 for heat treat can be difficult to do in an efficient way. We tried out many different thermocouple scanners to find one that would fit the requirements of AMS2750 for accuracy and also meet our own requirements for cost and reliability. In the end, we went with the Fluke 1529 "Chub" E-4. (I should note, this was before the 1586A Super DAQ wasreleased.)

The Chub is a very accurate thermocouple scanner and with the GPIB port, we were able to automate the Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) tests. Also, by making the software scaleable, we only connect the number of Chubs for the testing at hand. Some furnaces only require a small number of TCs to be connected with others requiring as many as nine. Our fleet of Chubs have been extremely reliable instruments. We continue to implement them for more calibration solutions. As I sit here, I am also debugging another implementation of the Chub to automate a thermocouple calibration using our 9112B Thermocouple Calibration Furnace.
